Good morning, everyone! Here is is—Friday again! Only this Friday, we don’t really have a newsletter for you. No new chapters, no new illustrations. No new anything. You may be asking yourself why that would be.
As you may know, I retired just a few weeks ago on Friday, February 9th. (And if you didn’t know before, you do now!)
That truly does sound good, but as the weeks go by, I’m finding I have less and less time to do what I had intended to do when I retired: writing and illustrating. It seems that the days are quickly filling up with things to do that don’t allow me to write or to illustrate.
It feels that as soon as people find out that I am retired and don’t go to a desk job during the week, they have come up with a request that requires my participation and help.
Pearl and I are going to sit together and think about this. I feel sad about letting you (our fans and newest followers) down—and even sadder about letting Pearl down. She loves it when I read the comments from our newsletters that you leave because it makes her feel like a star.
Until Next Time
Thanks for reading even though this wasn’t what we usually send out on a Friday!
Thanks for liking one of my stories, which then brought me to your art. You have a wonderful talent for illustration and writing. Your chicken stories are beautiful and an absolute delight to read. I was forced into retirement three years ago, after a military coup in Myanmar. Back in Australia and with a new found boredom, I did the cruises and got bored further ––I can only eat so much and reminisce so much. Left wondering what I was going to do when I grow up, I started writing to fill the void. I know that creating insane characters deeps me sane. For now anyway.
Since I left the workplace, I'm also surprised at how hard it is to find time for all the things I want to do.
