Our Apologies, Fans! We have been so busy for the past few weeks!
And we seriously don’t want you to think that we have forgotten about you!
We have been working on making the first volume of our current project as good as possible for you before sending off to be printed. You see, we adjusted the margins to accommodate illustrations better, but that created a good number of “widows and orphans” at the tops and bottoms of pages. Those had to be addressed with more editing before we could move forward. We are hoping to get this first volume out before Labor Day. Quite honestly, this has indeed been a “Labor of Love.”
We have also spent time working on the draft of the third volume in the series, and Amelia has been a great help and inspiration for me. Her spot as main character in volume two seems to quite naturally lead into the lead in bringing everything together for everyone in the conclusion.
Work has also been hectic because I’ve had to prepare materials and do training for the folks who will be stepping in to cover my responsibilities while I am away on vacation for several days around my birthday next week. The time away is needed not just to celebrate turning 66, but also needed to do some important jobs around the house and for our Remembrance Day for Emily who left us last year on the day before my birthday and after returning from a trip to the western part of the state to visit family. (I will not be traveling this year. Staying close to home and close to my little girls this year.)
We will be sending out another newsletter once our first book in the series is available with links you can use.
This has been a long journey, and it would have been impossible without all of our fans. “Likes” and “Comments” are very encouraging, but also knowing that these newsletters are being “Opened” and “Read” is equally encouraging! We try to imagine that we are writing and drawing with you right here with us in our own backyard!
Just as a personal note: My little girls have already retired from laying eggs, and they are eager for me to retire from going off to work every day. They are eager for me to stay home with them all day so I can feed them, play with them, and we can work on more stories and illustrations to share with all of you! What a wondrously perfect retirement for all of us!
Until Next Time…
We appreciate you, our readers, more than we can ever express, and we hope you haven’t thought that we have forgotten you. We will do our best to keep up with sending you our latest news from here in Coastal Virginia where it has been really hot and really humid. We appreciate those of you who support our stories because you are helping keep the fans running so we can stay cool and comfortable!
Earlier this week, I was sitting outside with my chickens and suddenly the power went out and the fans turned off. We all felt it. The power company was working on some lines in the next block, so we had to wait until they had finished for power to be restored. While waiting, a thunderstorm came through!
Bessie and Amelia weren’t bothered by it at all and just waited patiently for it all to pass under the shelter of the roof of their run area. Pearl spent much of the storm running and scratching and pecking outside her covered run area!
Happy Birthday!
I must apologise too, for not having spent as much time here recently.
Happy birthday for next week! I turned 55 in July.
