Pearl and Her Concerns About a Perfect Spot
We Truly Do Have Our Fans in Our Minds and in Our Hearts!
As you know, Pearl and I have spent a great deal of time together thinking about and discussing our online presence.
Recently one afternoon, as Pearl and I were thinking and discussing what to do to keep our fans informed about what’s going on with us, I noticed that she was poking her head out of a hole in the fencing. After I quickly did a loose sketch to later firm up with ink and color, I showed it to her.
“So do you get the message now?” she asked. “We need to give the fans The Perfect Spot” to see all that is going on!
It was like turning on a lightbulb in the chicken coop, and I got to work right away on The Perfect Spot. It would be one place for everyone to go to discover what was happening with us. And if they used another spot, it would always link back to The Perfect Spot.

I was surprised that we decided to use Ko-Fi rather than WordPress. That is where we have had the most experience and also where Pearl was introduced to the world!
But Ko-Fi allows donations rather than requiring subscriptions to fund creators. So we can maintain our “Free Stories” model while also helping to feed the chickens!
Back when I started blogging about my chickens, I was making 3 illustrations and story posts each week and they went together to make a unified whole. Here is the week’s work where Pearl first appeared.
My life with Gracie caused me to realize it’s never good to cover up who you really are just to be liked.
My life with Gracie reminded me just because someone looks like a friend on the outside, you won’t know for sure until you listen to what’s on the inside.
My life with Gracie (and Pearl especially) showed me the value of being an individual.
The third and final post for the week always had a big, bright background. This one had as many colors as possible that complimented the yellow of the marshmallow candy peeps. It also featured what would eventually become Pearl’s signature pose for “Trick or Treat! Smell My Feet!”
It honestly makes me a bit tearful as I think back on those days when we were just starting out.
Pearl understood my touch of sadness, and she reminded me of the future that lies ahead for us. She assured me that together we could face any challenge, and I believed her because it is impossible to doubt a little chicken as sweet and cute and absolutely cheerful as Pearl!
Be sure to check out The Perfect Spot at
https://ko-fi.com/theperfectspot
You can also sign up there to be notified of new content and should receive email notification when something new is available!
Please note: We will begin maintaining a list of subscribers with email addresses to this and other websites so if we do any changes in the future, we can just import our list of subscribers rather than asking everyone to sign up again! (Pearl has been very interested in Moosend.com because what goes better than milk, butter, and cream with fresh eggs? She also likes BeeHiiv.com because bees help make more apples, peaches, and other delicious things for chickens to eat!)
The Subscriber List with name and email address will also help us to give appreciation gifts to our fans! And with introducing “A Perfect Spot,” it just seems like a great next step!
If you ever need us for anything, you can reach Pearl or me by using the contact form at the bottom of the website we designed and now maintain:
Our additional key websites for collecting subscriber names and email addresses:
Our Ko-Fi website which is titled “The Amazing Miss Pearl,” but also indicates “The Perfect Spot.”
Our WordPress website which is titled “The Amazing Miss Pearl” and subtitled “The Perfect Spot to Keep up with Pearl and Her Friends.”
Until Next Time…
Remember Pearl’s looking around tip: A Perfect Spot lets you take in everything so you can scope out what to go for!
And Pearl’s tapping around tip: Don’t put it off! And please, don’t sit backwards on top of your typewriter or keyboard! Subscribe today!
We will be back again next week here on Substack with the next installment of The Night of the Nuggets. (What we have shared about changes in this newsletter are changes but we don’t foresee them being huge and dramatic changes for our fans here at Substack.) We are getting close to the conclusion to The Night of the Nuggets, and if you know Pearl like I think you know her, she see that she definitely has something good up the sleeves of her Gi!
We appreciate you very much! Thank you for reading,
John, Gracie, Bessie, Pearl, Blanche, Emily, and Amelia
Oh, I wish you would. I'd buy at least five. "Nuns Having Fun" only took me so far!
I love this! If you haven't made a calendar, please do so! I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
