This switch over to Friday seems like a good choice, and especially with this being Mother’s Day weekend. Pearl and I have wanted to set up a new website to use, but it isn’t ready yet. (Pearl exclaims “Rats!” about this, and so do I!)
About This Adventurous Project
Many of you know that I have been illustrating and writing here on WordPress for some time now, and I’ve picked up a great deal of “know-how” over the years.
Lately, Pearl, my precious last living hen, and I were looking through some very old stored files. They showed about what I was creating online before I started raising my first flock of baby chicks in my sunroom. Those illustrations and stories grew into the My Life With Gracie blog on WordPress and then GraciePress Books which are now widely available around the world.
I remember so well telling Gracie, “One day, you will change the world and make it a better place for people and for chickens.”
This is beginning to happen! It’s something we celebrate everyday.
Two years ago, Gracie died. For a while, I thought Amelia would take her place because of her strong personality and persistence, but tragedy struck several months later and left only Pearl.
Pearl. Never-fitting-in Pearl. Always-goofing up Pearl. She moved up to being Publisher-in-Charge of GraciePress with the final say in every drawing made and every word written.
Pearl can do something that Gracie could scarcely do. Pearl can share her heart openly and honestly without any worries or fear. Perhaps that has to do with all of the head pecking and harsh squawks she got every time she goofed and spoiled things for the others. Maybe it helped her to not worry about what others thought.
Pearl shares her heart for Jesus as easily as breathing in and out. She never doubts that she is precious in His sight.
This project is about what Pearl wants to say regarding Jesus from The Ancient Words sung by The Songbirds of The Living Library. Pearl believes her skills are best suited for being a conduit translator from The Language of Songbirds to The Language of Chickens and then to The Language of People.
Pearl’s prayer is that every word she shares will be filled with The Language of The Heart, God’s own Language. She also prays that the illustrations will show her unique style combined with my own. (You’ll see that she gets a little crazy with the black outlines and does use darker tones in her color choices, but that’s Pearl!)

We will keep you posted on how this all develops! Thanks for reading and following along! We sign off now hoping that everyone has a pleasant Mother’s Day Weekend!

John and Pearl
Another wonderful share. Your love for the birds is always clearly stated. As is theirs for you.
